Whitton in Bloom - Meadow Court
Last, but certainly not least, is Meadow Court, also open for the first time this year. Although the garden was created about six years ago, this is a garden undergoing change as the current owners have lived here for only six months and are gradually replacing some of the formal borders with mixed planting to give a more informal cottage garden feeling.
A paved area at the rear leads to lawns with beds of dense plantings including lavenders, penstemons, photinias, climbing roses, clematis, ceanothus, siliquastrum and Cytisus Battandieri (Pineapple broom). A gravel path leads past a water feature to steps down to the meadow with an orchard and wild flowers, and a pond currently being re-established and planted by the new owners. A secluded south-west facing gazebo is sheltered by roses, vines and honeysuckle, whilst a willow peacock gazes silently at the entrancing view.
